U.N. Report Warns That Rich Countries Must Do More on Climate Change

A new UN report on climate change was released today. There are two points of great interest here. First, the report details how the trappings of poverty - inability to collect fresh water, floods, and droughts - will all increase as greenhouse gases rise. Secondly, and perhaps most important, the report stresses the need for rich countries to become active players in reducing emissions while helping poor nations shift to energy sources that are not coal or oil based.
The scientific evidence to support climate change is beyond overwhelming. The only debate left on the topic should be a discussion on how to most efficiently and effectively reduce emissions. Sadly, many world leaders still require prodding on the subject. Hopefully they will read the report and get moving. Inaction on the climate crisis will have catastrophic implications for the future.
