Time to Listen to Your Readers

The Knoxsville News Sentinel recently asked its readers if the paper should make an endorsement in the presidential election.  75% of respondents in its online survey said no.  The newspapers editorial board did it anyway.  They endorsed John McCain

In their endorsement editor Jack McElroy wrote, “His maverick Republicanism mirrors well the spirit of East Tennessee.” Apparently the voters on eastern Tennessee don’t feel the same way.

The editors asked the readers in another online poll if they agreed with the endorsement of McCain.  68% said no.

Might be time to start paying more attention to your readers, they seem to have a better pulse on eastern Tennessee than the Sentinel.

Hooray for my hometown paper… In all seriousness the News-Sentinel is pretty crappy. However, I can’t imagine Knoxville going Obama, though he’ll have my absentee ballot.

McCain/Palin 08 Said:

PALIN IN ‘09 (from VP to President!) AND 2012 “legit”

It’s true that Sarah Palin does have the most executive experience
of all the candidates in this election. This experience includes
“spreading the wealth” (see: Alaska’s Windfall Profits Tax),
“abuse of power” (see: Troopergate), “questionable expenditures”
(see: Family travel expenses, hair and wardrobe costs).

But let us not get caught up in the here and now.
Let us journey through the past darkly:

From Lil’ Sarah Palin’s 4th Grade portfolio:

DEMOCRATS = DEMOCRACY
As in “the democratically elected government of…”

REPUBLICANS = REPUBLIC
As in The People’s Republic of China
The People’s Republic of Cuba

I hope to grow up to: Live in a FREE Alaska and marry Joe Vogel,
the leader of the Alaskan Independence Party.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN Said:

If McCain/Palin win the White House,
what good will it be?

If the nastiest, dirtiest, most erratic campaign mounted in the 21st Century (and even though it’s only a few years old, that is saying something), can triumph over the most obvious leader to emerge in decades,
what hope does our nation have?

What direction would a
McCain/Palin administration take us?
Do you think that they even know themselves?
Have you noticed that the color scheme of the McCain campaign isn’t even red, white and blue? It’s blue, white and gold. Which USA is that?

All I hear from the McCain/Palin camp is “Barack this,” and “Obama that.”

What I hear from Obama is “We can do this,” and “we can fix that.”

I say, let’s vote for hope, change and a continuation of Democracy.
4 more years of Reaganomics will turn us
into THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED STATES

OBAMA 2008
