The Media Still Thinks the Election is Close
I know, I know, a close election helps ratings and it sells newspapers. But peddling this storyline that the 2008 Presidential election might be a nail bitter is getting absurd. Even some GOP strategists have conceded its over. Yet today in the San Jose Mercury News, we find this article:
“Imagine the exciting presidential campaign coming down to a few states. On election night, Barack Obama takes Iowa, New Mexico and Nevada to add to the states that went Democratic in 2004. But John McCain holds onto all the other states that went to the GOP in 2004. The result: A 269-269 tie in the Electoral College. We have no winner. The U.S. House has to choose the next president when it meets in January.”
At this point the Mercury News hypothesis is sci-fi, not poli-sci.
The Mercury News isn’t the only MSM pushing this ‘the election is still close and it could break for either candidate’ line. Lots of news outlets are also pushing this angle. In reality, the election already broke for one candidate - Barack Obama - and when the returns come in we will be talking about this being a landslide victory. Obama will easily record 300 electoral votes and will make a run at breaking 350 (Bill Clinton set the recent high water mark with 379 in 1996).

Yeah, great article…..too bad it’s flawed like every other media outlet. Seems as though you all would love our lord and savior Hussein to win the election. Do you smell that?? It’s the smell of the end of capitalism. Yes, you overly intelligent fools who tend to overlook EVERYTHING Obama HASN’T done, and just focus on what he says will RUIN OUR COUNTRY. Don’t forget, Idiots, that the Democrats are what created this. Maybe you can get a few more busloads of homeless people to vote your way. I’ve never seen such a rig job attempt in all of my life.

In 1980 Jimmy Carter was ahead by 10 points in the polls and proceeded to lose to Ronald Reagan (forgive me if I do not genuflect as I type his name).
Barack Obama must keep campaigning, and all of us who want real change must remember to vote. Don’t think your vote is not important because it is.
