Don’t blame us, blame the US.

That’s the word today from Serbia’s Kosovo Minister Slobodan Samardzic, who identified the US as the “main culprit” for the violence that took place at the embassy on Thursday.  He also announced that Serbia was rounding up suspects and investigating those who attacked the US embassy in a brazen move that garnered international attention.

Today the Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Bush Administration’s decision to quickly recognize Kosovo as an independent nation, a move that the White House felt would bring stability to the region, instead may backfire, as the region now enters a period of hostile uncertainty.

The US is just an easy target, but the real underlying issues are all in Serbia and Kosovo. They need to arrest those responsible and then sit down together and find a peaceful way through this.
