‘Sarah Palin Is a Whack Job,’ Says Top McCain Aide
Last week they were calling her a diva. Today, a senior McCain aide called Sarah Palin a “whack job.” Yes, that is not a misprint. A whack job.
Several unnamed McCain advisers told Politico and CNN “[Sarah Palin] is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone. She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us.” After those comments came out, Palin ignored talking points sent to her plane and delivered remarks about her wardrobe, something the McCain camp did not want discussed.
Infighting at the top of the ticket is nothing new, especially in recent years. Al Gore’s people regularly complained during the ‘92 and ‘96 races about how he was used. John Edwards refused to use the Kerry campaign talking points, which lead to the “hope is on the way,” versus “help is on the way” dueling mantras. The botched Dan Quayle roll out is now drawing comparisons to Palin’s. The difference is that usually these kinds of stories come out after Election Day. This year, this is coming out a week before - and that spells trouble.
