There are reports swirling on the Internet coming from sources in Kenya stating that opposition leader Raila Odinga has been arrested. There reports are all unconfirmed.

Since being sworn in as president for a second term earlier today, the government of Mwai Kibaki has halted all live TV broadcasts in the nation. Since media reports are difficult to come by out of Kenya, citizen journalists should report via email any news they witness.

Protests have turned violent and there is already talk of civil war.

when they arrest the leader of the party that just lost a disputed election, doesn’t that signify civil war in 9 out of 10 instances?

The just concluded presidential elections was fraught with rigging and abuse of state power.

There is no recourse to appealing the results through the court system, because the judiciary is compromised by the Kenyan President and the Executive branch.

There should be a recount and an international
condemnation of the role of ECK in the rigging of the 2007 Kenya elections.

im writting this with alot of pain.kenya is back to the old dictaorship days.this is not democracy.what was the need of elections if they cant show the true face of the electorate?its very sad that kibaki has taken us to the past.we will fight to the bitter end no matter what it takes.

It’s a shame for the democracy of Kenya. Kibaki has sparked a new civil war, in a famously calm part of Africa. Shame on the US that supports the dictator, Kibaki (a.k.a. Idi Amin).

Prayers to the people of Kenya!

This is a very sad time for Kenya. Many a times we have said that whenever we are thinking about our country we should disregard whomever is in leadership. I ask all Kenyans of goodwill to rise up. We shouldn’t be happy that one of our own is in power without the right structures in place because Kenyans have seen why we need a proper constitution that ensures that power is devolved rather than winner takes all. I appeal to my GEMA colleagues to be at the forefront to condemn what we saw as blantant rigging of elections. Today it is Kibaki tomorrow he will Baki a Kimugabe.

It is sad to see Kyuks being attacked in slums because they are supposed to be better off now that there is a Kikuyu at the top. If that were to be of any significance then the slums should have been Kikuyu-free within the last five years.People should see throught the smoke and work together to remove the remaining old guard who regularly remind us of our ethnicity instead of our nationality.
I don’t know who pulled the wool over Kibaki’s eyes and told him he could have a proper government with a minority in parliament. It’s as smart as seeing fire and then putting your hand into it to see if he’ll get burnt.Truly idiotic I have to say.Hopefully he’ll get a new year’s present of a vote of no confidence.

It is sad that with such a big loss in the seats, Kibaki goes on to rule Kenya, When Kenya sneezes, all east African countries get the cold, eg Petrol is now three times in Uganda because of vote rigging. Kenya is heading to the Ugandan days of war. Kibaki should concede defeat. Come on Odinga do something. And come up too and tell the people to stop attacking Kikuyu’s. Unity is needed.
