Putin Endorses

by: Jason Haber Monday, December 10th, 2007

Today it was announced that Dmitry Medvedev, will be tapped to succeed Vladmir Putin as the next Russian President.   This ends years of speculation into the succession issue.  It is no surprise that a Putin associate was  tapped given how tightly Putin runs the Government.  For Medvedev, early questions for him will be how to manage the expanding Russian economy, and also what to do about the state of Russian media which has been restrained during the Putin years.   Oil has been at the epicenter of Russia’s recent economic growth.   Good thing Medvedev has experience with energy.  He is currently the Chairman of the Russian oil giant Gazprom.
