President-Elect Obama Website Goes Live
In keeping with his campaign theme the President-Elect website is www.change.gov. At the site, users can apply for jobs in the Obama-Biden administration and get the latest news on Cabinet appointments.
Under the headline of “Open Government,” the website asks readers to “Share Your Vision” via email.
“The story of the campaign and this historic moment has been your story,” the website states. “Share your story and your ideas, and be part of bringing positive lasting change to this country.”
The website’s homepage notes that it’s “74 days until inauguration,” when Obama is to be sworn in as president on January 20, 2009.
It also features a quote from Obama: “Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today.”

I applaud your initial comments for a 10 year plan for energy independence. This is more important than any other policy objective, a matter of extreme national economic security and if properly implemented, will immediately stimulate the economy and create quality long term jobs. I urge you to do the following asap:
1. Clearly define what is meant by “energy indepedence” in 10 years. Also, clearly articulate a 5 year interim objective.
2. I oppose all proposed tax increases on labor or capital, EXCEPT an immediate tax on imported oil and imported oil distallates…for example an immediate $20 tax per barrel of imported oil.
Benefits: a.oil and inflationary pressures are
low now
b. use these imported oil taxes to
fund tax incentives for alternative
energy
c. higher prices for imported oil
will by itself incent and support
alternative energy economics
d. higher oil prices will further
accelerate oil demand destruction
3. Alternative Energy Incentives should include a 10 year tax credit for base load and residential solar and wind generation. Most importantly, a significant tax credit needs to be passed for purchasing all electric vehicles(by-pass tax credits for hybrids or more fuel efficient vehicles), and enact significant tax credits for compressed natural gas vehicles and for the costs of immediately converting vehicles that use gasoline to natural gas (including at-home natural gas fueling equipment and installation.) The natural gas vehicle tax credits should be significant and front-end loaded (high in 2009 and 2010 and then decline after 2010) to encourage quick conversions to natural gas vehicles. This will reduce oil imports faster than any other incentive and will help our auto industry.
4. the overall energy independence policy should be directed at empowering and incenting PRIVATE capital through federal tax credits and other policies, rather than the use of federal funds. Private capital will be faster to implement and a far more efficient allocator of capital, including capital for alternative energy research.
5. A targeted investment in energy grid infrastructure by private capital should also be strongly encouraged. This will produce immediate job growth and a much better use of federal funds than another consumer oriented spending stimulus program that will burden future generations with more debt without any long term benefit/asset.
6. Immediate regulatory relief is needed to permit rapid base load solar, wind and nuclear power generation facilities.
I have generated many jobs over the years and know this program outlined above will work, and I am willing to contribute financially and volunteer my efforts to a properly designed program to achieve these objectives. Good luck!

Comment made on November 8th, 2008 at 2:15 pmI have a male toy parti-poodle puppy. He is adorable! Black and white, we call him Oreo. He is only 6 weeks old. He is the only parti poodle in the litter. We don’t let them leave mom before they are 8-10 weeks old. Poodles are hypo-allergenic because they do not shed. We would be willing to donate him to the children if they would be interested. I can send pictures.
Comment made on November 8th, 2008 at 4:02 pmI would love for Oreo to be White House Dog. I thougt he would be unique because of his colors. Dad is black tiny toy and mom is white toy poodle. I think the girls would love Oreo.
Congradulations President Elect Obama!
One of the first things I would like to see you and your administration do is End the Fed.
These are the international banksters who have gained control of the country. With the Bush/Cheney regime the neocons have turned our constitutional republic into a corporate fascist state!
Repeal the Patriots Acts I and II, and the Military Commissions act 2006. After all we are a free nation.
Have a international investigation into 911. The 911 Commissions Report was nothing but a whitewash.
Bring those complicit with the wiretapping of Americans, the torture of prisoners and all other corruptions to justice ………. no matter where it leads!
End the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We do not need to steal their oil…………no matter how David Rockefeller feels about it! Screw that criminal!
Most of all get rid of the IRS! They are nothing but a bunch of goons!
Comment made on November 8th, 2008 at 5:24 pmYOU WERE TALKING ABOUT CUTTTING SPENDING BY CUTTING OUT UNECESSARY PROGRAMS. HERE IS A THOUGHT.WE WERE WATCHING TV LAST NIGHT AND CALIFORNIA IS TALKING ABOUT HAVING TO CUT BAKE ON THEIR PUBLIC SERVICE AS TO SAVE MONEY. AND ABOUT NEW TAX INCREASES THAT THE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SACRAFIC DURING THESE HARD TIMES.
Comment made on November 8th, 2008 at 11:55 pmWE LIVE IN VIRGINIA AND OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT HAS ALREADING INCREASED OUR TAXES ON: REAL ESTATE, PERSONAL PROPERTY, UTILITY TAX INCREASE, AND ROAD TAX ON VEHICLES (WHICH JUMPED FROM $10 TO $30 DOLLARS) PER VEHICE.
I’M SURE THAT TERE WILL NOT BE MANY TOP OFFICALS SACRIFICING. WE THE PEOPLE ALSO THE HIGH PAID PUBLIC OFFICES HELD. NOT LAYING OFF GOVERMENT EMPLOYES, BECAUSE ONLY THE LOWER INCOME WILL BE SACRIFICED. BUT A PAY CUT YES, A PAY CUT. IT SHOULD NOT BOIL DOWN TO ONLY THE TAXPAYER DOING THE SACRIFICING AND THE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT HIGH RANKING JOBS STILL GET RICH, WHILE WE THE PEOPLE THAT DON’T HAVE ELECTED OR APPPOINTED JOBS DO THE SACRIFICING. AT A TIME WHEN THE COUNTRY NEEDS ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET STATES WANT US TO SACRIFICE. I’M SORRY BUT WE CAN’T LIVE NOW.
SURE THE GAS PRICES ARE SLOWLY COMING DOWN BUT THAT’S OUT OF FEAR OF THE ALTERNATIVES YOU PLAN. BUT GO BUY GROCERIES, NO CHANGE JUST WORSE, THEY WENT UP BECAUSE OF FREIGHT GAS IS DOWN BUT NO CHANGE. AND GO BUY A QUART OF OIL FOR A CAR OVER 3.00 BUT THE BARREL IS DOWN. 5 GAL OF HYDRAULIC IS OVER 50.00 JUST FOR 5 GALLON, YOU CAN THE BARREL OF OIL YOUR SELF AND DO BETTER NOW A DAYS.
SO SACRIFICE HOW!!!!!! WE CAN’T EAT,HEAT OUR HOMES, AFFORD HEALTH INSURANCE, CAN’T EVEN AFFORD A SMALL GIFT FOR OUR CHILDREN FOR CHRISTMAS. TTHE LOCAL SALVATION ARMY HAS PUT A CUT OFF OF 1000 NEEDY PEOPLE THAT CAN APPLY FOR HELP FOR CHRISTMAS, BECAUSE WE THE PEOPLE CAN’T EVEN HELP OUR OWN NEEDY NOW. BUT SACRIFICE AND MAKE SURE OUR FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS DON’T HAVE TO CUT BACK ON OUR SERVICES BULL!!!
IT IS TIME THAT THESE OVER PAID OFFICALS HAVE THEIR PAY CUT, NOT SUSPEND RAISES BUT CUT, ON ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LEVELS. NOT SECRETARY, JANITARS, ETC.. THE ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICALS.
CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE ALL THE MONEY THAT WOULD PUT BACK INTO FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL GOVERMENTS. AND EVEN WE THE PEOPLE COULD EAT AND NOT FEEL AS THOU OUR GOVERMENT EMPLOYES EAT HIGH ON THE HOG, ASK FOR US TO SACRIFIC WHILE THEY GET PAID THOUSANDS A YEAR IN A ECONOMY THAT WE HAVE SACRIFICE FOR BUT THEY DO NOT, THEIR INCOME JUST KEEPS GONG UP. AND WHY SO THEY CAN MORE CARS, HOMES, YAHTS,ETC.. IT’S TIME THAT GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES FEEL THE PENCH OOTHER THAN JUST IN THEIR INVESTMENTS. THEN YOU CAN SAY WE THE PEOPLE HAVE SACRIFISED.
Congratulations from a conservative independent. I pledge my support and commit to pray for you and the decisions that I know that you will have to make. As a retired US navy commander I salute my new commandering chief.

Congradulations Mr.President Elect. I am so grateful that in my lifetime I get to experience an african american president voted into the White House. I know you will make us all proud. I am writing to you and your family because I know I have the perfect puppy for you. It is one that not many people have heard of so it is still unique as you are. It is the Coton du Tulear. They originally come from Madagascar and entertained the Royal Family. They are adorable, they do not shed, they have virtually no health problems, they are definately perfect for allergy sufferers, and they would be a first in the White House like yourselves. How perfect is that! Please look them up, my Aunt in Montreal has one and it is so very cute and funny.

Comment made on November 14th, 2008 at 2:11 pmThis is a correspondence for the President Elect of United States of America.
Dear President Obama,
First, I need to be upfront and state that I did not vote for you. I will admit that I have been a life long Republican and I did vote for John McCain, even though I did not believe he was the best choice of the Republican Party. I am not sure that the Republican Party is even the Republican Party anymore. I firmly believe that neither the Republican nor the Democratic Party represents my values and beliefs in 2008. I have been disappointed in the performance of our elected officials for many years. The poor decision making, wasteful spending, corruption, and partisanship have made me skeptical of my representatives.
I realize that I am “Joe Nobody” a 51 year old from Enola, Pennsylvania. I also realize that my opinion probably does not mean much to you or anyone else in Washington. However, I want to let you know that although I did not vote for you or agree with many of your positions on key issues, you have won the election and have my full support. I hope and pray that your philosophy works for this country. I would much rather have me be wrong than you. If you are wrong about how to fix our economy and what is in the best interest of our country, then we will all suffer. If I am wrong, then I will just have to adjust my thinking and the country will not suffer…
I will pray every day that you are successful implementing strategies to bring this country out of the doldrums that we currently find ourselves in.
Please change the political climate in Washington. I feel very strongly that my generation and specifically the politicians of my generation have left our nation down. My children and grandchildren will probably be forced to pay for the apathy and incompetence of my generation, and for that I am truly ashamed.
I still firmly believe that we live in the greatest country this world has ever known. We are still the most caring and giving people on this planet. We may have lost our way in certain areas, but we can regain our stature around the world and more importantly restore the citizen’s confidence in our country and our government.
President Obama, there is nothing that you can do more important than creating an environment of cooperation between the political parties. When partisanship is put aside and everyone works together with the best interests of the country coming first, we will start on the road to recovery. The past three administrations damaged the spirit of cooperation and non partisanship. Many times I have felt that more time was spent on both sides of the aisle trying to destroy the other side than really addressing the issues.
Mr. President, good luck to you as you get ready to embark on this most important journey. I do not envy the task you have. You have been left a mess to clean up by both parties.
God bless you.

Good Morning
I am just wondering why everything has to be so complicated and why a common
sense attitude approach can not be used to help the country financial crisis. It
is a simple solution to all.
there are 233 million mortgages out there and out of that 100 million are in
trouble including myself. The first step would be that the president in power an
executive order to put all foreclosures in a 90 to 120 day freeze, giving time
for present government or new government coming into office to work out
solution. The simple solution is to take 300 million of bailout money and issue
it to the people in a way as to pay off there mortgages and the ones not in
trouble would be able to pay them down and lower there payments. That in turn
would influx cash immediately to the banks and relieve bad debt off there
financial statements. This in turn would relive the American people of debt and
allow them to start spending money and start to revive this country’s money. I
am 55 years old and tried to solve things through channels, but of most of my
life the answer always ended up with the common sense approach. If the above
approached was initiated right away it would help everyone and also help the
company’s in trouble by moving money where it belongs and not in the corporate
end. It would filter to them in the long run, but that approach will help all
and not a few as is what is happening now.
This to me and many of the people I have talked to, seems to be the best
answer to help the country. By putting a freeze on, that would ease stress on
people and goverment and allow time for workouts.

i hear on the news your candidate starter mom didnt make it. died monday morning it said hawii time at 86. she was born in 1921 just before elicabeth came to america and she did vote just before she died. to bad that she didnt last through the celebration but am sure obama will quitely fly of to his grannys funeral in a day or so as the hoopla slows do down he better will be a bad omen for his irish adminisntration if he dont.
\
anyway she peeks my curiosity as the mother was alegedly irish and nobody knows who that migth be. the dunhams aint irish are they but the hogans are. i mentioned it to denis a few months ago but no responce they may know over there. there was some mention ofthe name mckenna we have some of theose in the fine too.
well in case you hear anything about that let me know maybe it will come out at the funeral who madeline was before she married her guy. just curiosity he does have those big irish ears.
anyway went down and voted this am about 1030 figuring to avoid the early morn crowd and the lunch crowd and about 6 people there so get through went to lunch and got a free coffee for voting from Starbucks bythe univeristy. now at the libray.
a bit dizzy again today as bp sky high without the beta blockers remember no you dont thats before came to your house and when was in nyc in 48 couldnt dothe 50 turns necesssary to get into advanced ballet. a balance problem and than always fell down skating too as the same defect tahn i remeber now had vertigo and motion sickness in pgh riging int eh back seet of teh car the ear cocleur tubes is it I I have a balance problem and it is genetic wonder where got it from you hogans probably us donnellys are perfect in every way but not to forget those forlorne Mullens they may have brains but denis days they are pitiful in football game.
well tomorrow all will be almost back to normal for the US as soon as we get rid of george and his ridiculous cronys we should be ok int he world and at home.

than they need to shore up those poor guys in afganistan who are guarding that karzias borders for him with worse conditions than the battle of the bulge. at lest the bulge sent in relief supplies. but these guys are like at the alamo. george could care less
than i will suggest the first thing they do domestically besides sign a tax relief for companies who stay in america and a fine for those who leave is get a more affordable pre school cost so the mothers and 4/5 year olds who are to rich or live in to nice a neigborhood and hence cant get into head start get their equal chance witht eh poor kinds and teh rich kids to have reading readiness et all before they start regular school. poor little isabel falls inthat catagory and I am sure there are many others mothers making enogh to get by but not enought to afford a bill a week for their kid to be with the peer group. they may be a small group but they are just as entitled to pre school as rich parents kids and the eternal poor kids living int he ghettos. these are the middle class kids with the morgage the job the old car and the big electric bill
well that should keep you and cnn going for the next few hours of constant coverage.

if you want opinion and direction how to help the real people who are the poor, you need someone who is poor. Rasing a family of 7 has educated me into the in’s and out’s of just making it. A great educated individual will be great to place the proper word in orde4r. But, you need someone who can tell you that the medical bill is great but working 42 hours makes such insurance unavailable. So, a person who needs the medical coverage wil stop work at minimum wage to keep medical. Many area’s of helping will only cause the same. Want to help the poor people. Hire one to help direct, communicate, and help designing a bill that works.
Comment made on November 23rd, 2008 at 8:24 pmSure most likely you will consider the upper educated and political people to run a department and/or think tank concerning how to remove socail medical and help as your term starts. There are a lot of people who have to use whatever means there is at hand just to make it.
Just to make it means maybe there will be a full supper that evening and maybe you can bring your child to a physician at a charity hospital. remeber the time at a charity hospital means you can’t work that day, plus employers don’t care if yo need time to care for your child.
A think tank of people who know hardship is the only way you will see the truth and be able to plan on popsitive ways to help the poor.
Willing to help, don’t need a $100,000.00 a year income. I survive on $48,000.00 in a good year of work and have nothing left to show for my work. But I do have family love.
Wnt me to work for yuou ready and willing to explain the ways people who make my income or less have to live.
First congratulations on your election, as an independent voter I will strive to support your efforts even where I disagree with their direction.
Regarding the Auto Industry, one of the things that needs to be done to help is to eliminate the arbitrary CAFE standards that have been imposed on them. Let them build whatever they can sell. If you seriously want to reduce gasoline consumption, put a higher tax on gasoline but subsidize diesel to encourage it’s use.
Comment made on December 7th, 2008 at 1:14 pmAlarming job losses is threatening. More jobless, less to spend to boost economy, less tax revenue, less expenditure, shrinking job market, more crime, more foreclosures, bla, bla.
Legislate, effective immediately, to make mandatory retirement age to 60 or 62 with no change in the social security and pension benefits. To save money no early retirement packages allowed. Thus older people take rest and restless younger people in millions enter job market. Government can indirectly save payment of unemployment compensation also as the jobs lost by the retirees are not loss of employment.
A certain percent of salary of mployees getting above a certain limit should should be reduced. Non-arbitrary surcharges should be imposed on sale of clothing and gasoline. Govt should help negotiate with labor leaders for cutting salaries.
Comment made on December 8th, 2008 at 7:52 amAs a life long Democrat and Executive in the Energy Industry, I would like to suggest that you give serious attention to the Energy Industry and the Department of Energy. A strong and knowlegeable Secretary is required. Someone like Dr. Ernie Moniz of MIT. The need for Power will not go away and the new Secretary will have to find ways to produce it cleanly. Renewables and Nuclear are the clear choices.
Comment made on December 9th, 2008 at 9:53 amPlease get involved in the auto loan crisis.
I have been a loyal Republican since I was eligible to vote. I am now 70 years old. For the first time in my life I am leaning toward the Democratic Party.
President Elect Obama you need to display some bold leadership which you discussed during your campaign and get in involved in the automotive loan vote. It was terrible that the Senate which our founding fathers designed to speak for the welfare of the nation took such a partisan stand tonight. You should meet with President Bush and for the economic stability of the nation and world become involved in making sure that this nation does not suffer any more economic losses. This is perhaps the most serious economic situation this country has faced. Since the Senate vote tonight, stock markets around the world are dropping. We can not take any additional economic turn downs.
I have lost over ½ of my life time savings; my house is worth less then the mortgage. I will never regain my losses and what I have worked for since the age of 10 when I started working on my grandfather’s farm. Due to the loss and not be able to leave my children and grandchildren what I had always hoped for.

Mr. President Elect,
Comment made on December 12th, 2008 at 2:31 pmPlease do not allow the UAW to dictate the outcome of the auto industry bailout. If they do not have realistic concessions then off to the unemployment line.
Why should mainstream Americans who do not enjoy these benefits provide those benefits to the few in the auto industry. An industry that is equally out of touch with reality.
Thank you GM and others for fighting against seatbelts, airbags, higher gas mileage standards, and reliable vehicles. Sure was a great business model. So I wonder, what will change should your request for such an outrageous amount of taxpayer money is achieved?
Signed,
An average, hard working taxpayer, and loyal American.
My Prayer for the Presidency of Barack Obama
Comment made on December 17th, 2008 at 2:12 amOur father and our God,Creator of this vast and majestic Universe,We, Your children,in the name of Your only Begotten Son and our Redeemer, The Lord Jesus Christ, come before you this day to say Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You for the election of Mr. Barack Obama to be the forty fourth President of The United States of America, and leader of the “free world.” In these troubled times, we pray that yYou would anoint him even now with wisdom, understanding and love, to face the many trials and to find the right solutions as he navigates through the swelling currents that threaten to engulf us. We as a poeple are faced with great losses as a result of the current financial crisis. Hunger wars and mass violations of “human rights” and “Human Dignities” are rampant in many areas of the world, caused by men of greed, hatred and just plain evil, and Your people are crying out for deliverance. Father, Your Divine Word tells us that if we would turn from our wicked ways and seek Your Face, that we would hear from Heaven, and You would heal our land. So Father, we humbly acknowledge our sins before You and ask for Your forgiveness. We thank You for the prophetic “Dream” of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and for those who have given their lives
in the struggle for the equality of all mankind, and for those who are still alive today to witness this great and historic event. We too like Dr. King have been privileged to see scenes of the future, and we shout Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Your Truth is marching On. Amen.

Subject: Correcting the Failing Economy
Honorable President Elect Barack Obama:
Many of the news programs are talking about who is the blame for the failing economy while most of the middle class and lower paid employees are losing their jobs and suffering from higher regressive sales taxes and real estate taxes.
It is not right that the burden fall mostly on those with the least when many of the millionaires extracted so much of the gross national product for themselves during the last year. Instead of spending a lot of time placing the blame, lets have everyone contribute to the economic recovery without printing excessive amounts of money.
Start taxing the rich. Say 90% tax on all personal earnings over 250 million for 2008 and 2009 and gradually reduce the percentage down to $250,000 per year. This temporary tax will help the value of the dollar and shoulder the financial load on those who can most afford it. By having to pay higher taxes, those who are controlling corporations will keep more money in the corporations rather than taking it out for their personal wealth now.
Sincerely,
Arne Jorgensen

i am not joe the plummer i am however trying to start a towing company called diamond towing “a cut above the rest” i am a veteran and would like to take advantage of the patroit express program. lenders are very slow to process the loan applications.example sumitted a loan request to summitt bank in santa rosa calif. they have had my business plan and application for a month and after many calls still no return calls. why are they a sba lender if they wont do the job. another lender safe-bidco offered only $90,000 of the $150,000 i need to be sucessful. why only $90,000 and i have to put up 15 % and they keep the truck.how do i operate on no cash? i contacted senator feinstin”s office for help but no response yet. i lost my job to downsizing at the end of may 08.and after 38 years working for 2 companys i decided to go it alone by starting my own company but i need help.our home like everyone else has dropped in value, in our case paid $561,000 now worth $385,000 as of this month.if i don’t get my business loan we will become another casuality of the forecloser wars i don’t want that to happen.so i need your offices help.i have a partner and a 13 year old to take care of.i have worked ever since i was 15 and at 17 was in the military. i just turned 59 dec 26 08 but i still have 10 more years i want to work and pay taxes and hopefully grow a business to hire employees and buy equipment. i just need help to get the company off the launch pad. i am not asking for a handout just what i believe i am entittle to.last the banks i believe are not being very good about handling adjustments on home loans.as i said we are now way upside down and need the bank in this case bank of america to help with a long term solution but once again slow to consider request. we need help please what can you do? i know were only one family but i am trying to help by starting a company i just need to get it off the ground.last i believe you will make a great president just like kennedy was.
thanks in advance for any help your office can
provide and look forward to hearing from you.
sincerly
