Peace Deal Signed in Kenya

Finally, a post-election deal has been signed in Kenya.  This should mark the end of the violence that has gripped the nation since the end of December.

After signing the agreement, Kenya’s rival politicians shook hands and seemed ready to move on.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga referred to his rival as “my countryman, President Mwai Kibaki” — an important sign of acceptance.

Now the various tribes of Kenya must find a way to put the last 6 weeks behind them and work together to rebuild the country.

Kudos to Kofi Annan who remained in Kenya and worked through grueling negotiating sessions to arrive at this landmark agreement.

One Response to “Peace Deal Signed in Kenya”

Henry Said:

Koffi annan still is the greatest man I have known. His diplomatic intelect and Love for Africa.
He saves Kenya but my question will be; what powers will be invested the kenyan prime minister that will not be in the presdent?
The situation is not that clear yet but all thanks to Mr Annan
