Opposition Politician Is Assassinated in Kenya

The crisis in Kenya reached a new and potentially violate flashpoint on Tuesday when Mugabe Were, a freshman parlimentarian from the opposition party was shot dead outside his home.
Were was seen as part of a new generation of leaders in Kenya who was trying to end the violence. Instead, he became a victim of it.
The New York Times is reporting, “he had married a woman of another ethnic group, built a footbridge in a slum with his own money and sponsored teenage mothers to go to college. As Kenya slid into chaos this past month after a disputed election, he shuttled between leaders of different ethnic groups and was actually organizing a peace march the night before he died.”
It did not take long for news of his death to set off a new wave of vengeful words and attacks. CNN is now reporting, “Raila Odinga said he suspected ‘the foul hands of our adversaries’ in the shooting death of the ODM member… Within hours, rival ethnic gangs clashed in Nairobi’s Kibera slum, near where Were was shot dead in his car, according to Reuters.com. Three deaths were reported Tuesday, opposition officials told CNN, but it was unclear if they were linked to the killing.”
Another bad day in Kenya, with no end of the crisis in sight.

I’m a Kenyan in the U.S, brought up in Kenya from parents oF different tribes. Tribe conflict has never been an issue in Kenya especially in the post independence generation. I’ve never had a girlfriend from either of my parents tribes. So in my opinion the tribal clashes going on in Kenya especially from the people of my generation has to be deep roots politicaly. The government since independence is being rulled by our freedom fighters (1963). They were heros but their mindset in the current pace of the World is outdated. The pre-independece generation is corrupt and very much tribalistic. So i these new wave of violence erupting in a peacefull Kenya i’d hold the top government officials responsible, coz they are the ones who are still clinging to old tradition.
My prayer to the Kenyan youth is to rise up against tribal instigation from these old generation that carries the sins of our fore fathers and look up to the present and the future that we all cherish to have as a nation. PEACE IN KENYA
