Rapper Jay-Z recently produced multimedia campaign called “Water for Life” which highlights the worsening water and sanitation crisis in impoverished nations. campaign which he developed with the United Nations. Ending such conditions is part of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s).

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was delighted by Jay-Z’s advocacy. In a prepared statement, yes a prepared statement, he said: “My man Jay-Z has been a wonderful partner to the UN, and a champion of those in need around the world.”

International diplomacy continues to make for strange bedfellows. Perhaps Ban Ki-moon will get more attention from the hip-hop community the next time he ‘drops’ a new policy initiative.

All jokes aside, it is great to see celebrities using their notoriety to bring attention to the laudable MDG’s.

While, that is one great thought by a well renowned artist like Jay.Z. But i wonder if his innitiative will help a very disadvantaged African from zambia, who share water with the wild animals and has poorest sanitation you can think of.
I wish his initiative could be broadened.
    Cheers.
