Musharref Feels the Heat, While Putin Turns Back the Clock

He’s back…As if Benizar Bhutto’s return didn’t put President/General Musharref in a tight spot now he has other problems to contend with. The Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who fled the country during the Musharref military coup in 1999, made a successful comeback from exile on Sunday in his second attempt this year.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to do his best impersonation of command and control soviet-style leadership. Opposition protesters have been arrested in St. Petersberg including Putin’s rival in the spring elections, and former chess champion Gary Kasparov. The protesters claim Putin has ignored civil liberties and has limited media coverage of his government.

It doesn’t take a Chess Master like Kasparov to know that both Musharref and Putin are backed into a corner and facing check-mate…
