Musharraf Blasts “Intellectual Arrogance” of the West

Things are heating up at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Pervez Musharraf, the President of Pakistan, was critical of Western leaders “intellectual arrogance” toward his country, and was quick to dismiss the notion that this leadership was diminished by the Bhutto assassination or the state of emergency powers he briefly took in late 2007.

He also dismissed the claim that he cannot be trusted to hold free and fair elections as “totally absurd.” Musharraf also said, “we are not such clueless people who do not know how to run a country, we have our own brains.”

Now would be a good time to remember that Musharraf himself came to power in a successful 1999 military coup.

I think America needs to just let other countries fight there own battles. It is rather arrogant to offer our “services” as if were just waiting to get involved in more war. Thats all we need is more money and more lives spent. havent we spent enough in Iraq? I think its time to start worrying about our own problems for a change!

Puh-lease. This is the same backwards country that sentenced a woman to be gang-raped because her brother had sex with someone the family didn’t approve of. From my recollection, Musharraf had to be pressured into doing something to help the victim. Don’t tell me this guy knows s*it from Shinola.

He is nothing but another Muzlim dictator wants west to keep him in western list of allies and let him rule the country forever.

How long are we going to pretend that Musharraf is NOT an sponsor of terrorism? He has helped our enemies, hindered the conflicts in Afghanistan, and continues to thumb his nose at all Americans. Now that he has had Bhutto killed, and has replaced all of the former judges with his stooges, he feels that he can now act like the dictator he always was.. Mr. Bush, PLEASE cut off ties with this animal and lets start taking care of our own country for a change.. The economy is crumbling, people have lost their homes, we are losing jobs at an alarming rate, and we still give aid to monsters like Musharraf. Try to be an American President for a change and not the “Leader of the Free World”. We are all suffering here in YOUR own country. Be our President. Be a man. Help your own people.

Silly blog with silly comments by silly americans that dont know jack$hit about the world. Americans love Foxnews and $hit like that because it gives them an inflated sense of themselves. A truly great nation (America) made to be hated by the world by silly leaders who come through undemocratic means (Hint: Al Gore vs Bush)

    No Dogs
    No Mexicans
    No Niggers
These are the type of signs that hung outside of some southern businesses as late as the 1960’s. Did any outside countries’ leaders come to America to tell them how to run things, no.The oppressed people in America stood up to the society to change things.Western leaders believe in “White Man’s Burden” the white man is the superior race, and other poor races and/or countries must take western help and western ideas, even if not wanted, to survive. These is viewed by people as imperialism. Especially, when you look at all the territories and foreign military bases the U.S. and U.K. have throughout the world. The U.S. needs to mind its own business: securing borders, economy, and social issues. Embrace the idea that no matter how poor you are in these country that the America Dream can realized if you apply yourself.

To all the Western Intellectuals out there!

I am a Pakistani and like Musharraf I would also like to remind you to mind Your Own Business. Seriously, what do you think you are??? Supreme beings of some sort. You have absolutely no knowledge of Pakistan’s history, no understanding of how Musharraf came into power, no idea of how many modern/educated Pakistanis support this guy (hint: majority) and above all “No Fundamental understanding of Democracy”.

Its not a hollywood movie that you just freaking get in and in an hour everything is fixed up. Hmm…lets see…what happened in Iraq: 5 years and counting…ouch!

Musharraf is a very smart individual, he has done way more to free pakistani people & its media then anyother democratic government in the history of the country. He has made countless other reforms that no other “democratic” government failed to do. And that Benazir Bhutto that the west really cares about so much, she campaigned about women rights and got elected twice…only to suck the life out of our economy and did nothing in regards to women let alone individual/media rights. Also do some googling for “Mr. 10 percent” and “benazir corruption”.

To the enlightened South philly poster….that was a rare case in a very suburban town….just like there was last year about the guy who was running his own religion and marrying underage girls to mature men…where was it…oh my that US! Well genius, isolated incidences happen everywhere blaming 160million people for the action of few shows your intellectual capability.

I 100% support Musharraf and why don’t you guys take a break from fixing the world. Better of, finish the ongoing projects i.e. Iraq, Afghanistan etc. that you already have up your sleeves.

I am an American who has been to Pakistan many times.

    Sane Pakistani,

all I can do is applaud. I agree with you 100%. I have been to Pakistan 9 times for business over the last 4 years. I go because everyone else in my company is afraid to go because of the BS they see on TV. The last time I forced another co worker to come with me. He has vowed to compete with me the next time my company needs to send someone to Pakistan. It’s amazing how much of the news in the US is BS and how much is real. Its funny how many European tourists you see wandering the streets of Pakistan, but then again they still have a decent education system and not propgandist news services.

People forget to realize that you are one of the newest countries in the world, If you look at the timelines you have progressed further faster since your birth then the US has. I applaud you and your fellow country men and women.

It is not the intellectuals that you have to tell it is the uneducated in this country who make up a majority and that majority is only getting bigger. It is sad.

As evidenced by the above comments. We need to leave the Muslim countries to the Muslims. Let them sort it all out themselves. If they end up destroying it, so be it.. I, for one, wouldn’t really care. It is the same with many other countries that beg for US involvement and then when they have sucked us dry and start holding us hostage over oil and trade, they begin bad mouthing us and all things American. I think it is time to close our borders. Stop trade with them. And take care of our own issues. We don’t need them and by their comments, they don’t need or want us.. So let’s get out and refuse to let them in. This goes for all, not just the Arab states or Muslims. I am talking about Mexico as well. And China. And any others that are trying to rape our country and then run back to theirs to say how terrible America is.
GO AWAY. NO PLACE FOR YOU HERE.

  12. Bel on January 25th, 2008 8:01 am

Also, to all Pakistani’s, Arabs, Mexicans, and any other person from any other country that do not like America and yet live here. GO BACK HOME!! We don’t need or want you. Keep America for the Americans. We should no longer be a “melting pot” when we let in those that taint and attempt to murder our American ideals and culture. I’m not talking about the mess Bush and other politicians have created. I’m referring to our original ideals of pride, innovation, and die hard attitude. A country not run by the corporate monsters, but by the people, for the people.
