McCain Versus The McCain Crowds
What a day on the trail yesterday for John McCain. First, meet Gayle Quinnell, a McCain supporter who said she doesn’t trust Obama because he is Arab. After McCain does the right thing and corrects her, Quinnell spoke to reporters afterwards and apparently she wasn’t convinced. In this interview later in the day with theuptake.org, she talks about her fear of the US becoming a Muslim nation.
Earlier in the day, McCain got booed by his own supporters when he asked them to be “respectful” of Obama. Really, that’s not asking for much, but when you’ve spent the last week inciting the mob against Obama and you tolerate your supporters chanting such venom as “kill him” and “terrorist,” what do you expect?
When one man said he was scared to raise his unborn child in a country that might be led by a President Obama, McCain disagreed. “I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States,” McCain said to boos and groans from his supporters. “If you want a fight, we will fight,” McCain said. “But we will be respectful. I admire Senator Obama and his accomplishments. . . . I don’t mean that has to reduce your ferocity, I just mean to say you have to be respectful.”

it’s funny how people are so ignorant when it comes to Barack Obama. He was born in Hawaii, which is part of the US, his mom was white and that he speaks with no accent.
Now, if he wore a beard, had some accent and spoke with broken English, then people could assume he was some form of Muslim.
Btw, Muslim makes up 10% of the religions in Kenya.

Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 10:57 amWell, that what happens when the media feeds people with lies! I can’t say that this wasn’t expected. I won’t be surprised if people started thinking that Obama is related to you-know-who
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 11:06 amI am going to go way out on a limb here and say how much I respected what John McCain did yesterday. For the first time in a long time, I saw an American, not just a win-at-any-price presidential candidate. I saw Pat Buchanon this morning and he was horrified that McCain defended Obama, which tells me McCain did the right thing.
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 11:33 amThese McCain/Palin supporters are absolutely scary. And McCain/Palin are to blame for stoking the fire. Their lying smears are putting gasoline on the fire.

Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 4:42 pm@ Joel: By the way, Muslim is a follower of Islam, I’m guessing you ment -ISLAM- being at 10% in Kenya? Another thing, Islam/Muslim is a religion, Arabian is a nationality…. Kenya is -NOT- in Arabia (do not be shocked)
PS first post got screwed up
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 4:43 pmArabian isn’t a nationality (nor did Joel even mention Arabians). Arabs are people who speak Arabic. Arabia hasn’t been a nation for many, many years. You’re correct that Kenya is not an Arabic nation, but many countries in Northern Africa are, including Somalia which borders Kenya, so while wrong, it wouldn’t be an unforgivable mistake to make.
The unforgivable mistakes are the insinuation that there is anything wrong with being either Arabic or Muslim and that she’s persistent in her idiocy even when directly corrected.
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 5:34 pmSomalia is not an Arab nation. Perhaps you meant Sudan — but what do you care, seeing as how you don’t seem to know much about anything in that region.
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 8:13 pmAs a Muslim I truly feel sorry for here.
The elderly woman seems sincere and stubborn in her faulty beliefs buts that’s the power of ignorance.
Just like most Americans are falsely led to belive by the right-wing and pro-Israeli lobby that the security of Israel is somehow “sacrosanct” and should be put above all other nations on Earth…somehow this is the only country that allows to be bullied by the well organized Jewish lobby.
In any case, she’s forgivable…but McCain’s purposeful incitement and “win at all costs” is not. Note how he is copying the same themes of the unsuccessful Clinton campaign (Ayers, experience, attacks 24/7) and hoping for a different result. The very definition of stupidity?
Comment made on October 11th, 2008 at 9:50 pmWhat ever happened to “All people are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights….” All people except Arabs, Muslims, Jews, blacks, Native Americans, … Are we ready to say that an Arab cannot be elected to office, or a Muslim (thanks, Keith Ellison), a black, a Jew? If this is main-stream America, Canada or Europe is looking better and better.

Comment made on October 12th, 2008 at 12:46 am1.3 Billion Muslims will be thrilled to see it on middle east TV along with the hate and venom
out of the McCain people and there mobs of racists.,plus there may be ’some’ minorities upset.
I hope the revolution is not or is televised!
Gayle Quinnell (address and telephone number deleted by editor)
here, call her up–ask her why she’s so ignorant!!!
and don’t ask where I got the info, lol
Comment made on October 13th, 2008 at 7:30 amThat’s a disgusting suggestion, Stevod. The last thing anyone should do is harass this woman.
As a McCain supporter I’m more than a little disappointed to see Democrats so gleeful about this pathetic situation.
This is an elderly woman. She’s the kind of person who would be targeted by telephone scammers. She bought into a stupid hoax about Obama and made a complete fool of herself on national TV.
I felt sick when watching this because I receive similarly stupid sentiments from elderly folks via email. You don’t have to believe me, but I’ve always taken the time to respond to & debunk the silly rumors about Obama.
The emails come from decent, hardworking, professional, intelligent people. Problem is that they don’t know how to check into the validity of internet rumors. Most of them retired in the early 90’s and barely understand email. So they are very receptive to corrections made in good faith.
Mocking them will only make people dig in her heels & continue spewing BS. Good on McCain for doing the right thing. Shame on Stevod for doing the wrong thing.
But where are Ms. Quinnell’s relatives? Why couldn’t they take time to correct her? Why did it fall on McCain? This was really a sad moment.

Yeah, because Obama/Biden and the rabid left haven’t stoked the fire against McCain/Palin and Bush/Cheney. The attitude you’re decrying has been the hallmark of the left since 2000.
Comment made on October 16th, 2008 at 10:09 amMy Mom gets letters from people that are like this woman and she buys in to this B.S. Old confused people. Why are they always Republicans. Aren’t there any smart Republican seniors?
Comment made on October 17th, 2008 at 11:58 amQuinnell has the same low level of intelligence, and inability to think for herself as do those who are persuaded to become terrorists.
