McCain Fights Back

John McCain, “I’m an American, and I choose to fight.”  With that, McCain today acknowledged to supporters that he is down in the polls but that he is prepared for a fight to the finish.

“Let me give you the state of the race today and some straight talk. We have 22 days to go. We’re 6 points down (10 actually according to today’s gallup poll, but I’ll get back to this in a minute). The national media has written us off,” McCain said as boos broke out in the crowd.  He continued, “Sen. Obama is measuring the drapes, and planning with Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid to raise taxes, increase spending, take away your right to vote by secret ballot in labor elections, and concede defeat in Iraq. … But they forgot to let you decide. My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.”

Regarding poll numbers, yesterday some argued that McCain was about to stage a comeback as Gallup’s overnight track had the race down to a 7 point lead (which is still technically a blow out win).  Then this afternoon, Gallup’s new poll came out and Obama had restored his 10 point lead.  You always have minor swings in overnight polls, that’s why there is a margin of error.  We’ve been saying this for 3 weeks now, this election is not close, it won’t be close, and Obama will collect over 300 electoral votes on his way to a large victory.

But McCain should be out there talking about issues and making a race of this.  The past two weeks have been a pathetic excuse for a campaign on their part and their own supporters deserve better.

One Response to “McCain Fights Back”

Mrs J Said:

I think it will be great if McCain really does talk about the issues. He says he will conduct what’s left of the campaign with respect and does not want to end on a negative note. He made a good start on that on Friday, and I hope he continues. I enjoy a good lively debate. We have not had one yet this year.
