Kosovo Declares Independence

Posted on February 17, 2008 - Filed Under Kosovo |

albanianflag.jpg

It has been a long and often tumultuous 10 years for Kosovo, the Serbian province, that was the scene of ethnic cleansing, a NATO lead air campaign, and political instability.

But today is Kosovo’s day.

Today, Kosovo’s parliament gathered to announce their official independence. Prime Minister Hashim Thaci read aloud the document, which is written in Albanian, Serbian and English. While this move is opposed by Serbia and Russia, most western nations including the US support it.

There are widespread celebrations breaking out all over Kosovo, as many have gathered to celebrate this historic occasion.

Update: On Monday the UN will hear Serbia’s complaints about move by Kosovo.

The Pandoras box is now opened… You cannot declare someones teritory as yours just like that. You will all see the outcome of helping to create big albania. Who are the druglords in UK and in Europe generaly? 500 000 fireweapons officialy in Kosovo? Jews waited 2000 years to enter Jerusalem, Serbs will comeback to their Jerusalim…

  2. Gazmend on February 17th, 2008 7:50 am

Jews are not the vampires, you serbs are the vampires of the Europe,Kosova never belonged to you, go back to your mother Russia.Hehe you speak about the druglords? You are the biggest mafia, serbian mafia killed your own primer minister.

Thx USA,GB,and all the western countries for supporting us against serbian aggression, aggression that killed hundred of thousend of people n Croatia,Bosnia,Kosova..

  3. Mitar Miric on February 17th, 2008 8:10 am

Kosovo always was the heart of Serbia. You are still burning Serbian churches and demolishing graveyards so no one could know Serbs existed there. About thousand more to demolish and flatten and you will achieve your goal. You really think we are to forget this? You were living on our backs for hundreds of years. Now you live from drug and people trafficing, you are not capable of making a matchstick. The USA and the EU will see the “benefits” of this when you come to their door. Stolen = Cursed

  4. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 8:34 am

Thx to Jesus for showing this day to me, i never gave my hope and he reward it me, i’m going to pray to Jesus all my life for all the inocents that were brutaly killed and will pray for the brave contries and soldiers that came to Kosova and saved us.

God bless USA,GB and all countries that helped us.

  5. Spaniard on February 17th, 2008 9:11 am

Well, this is something i really did not expect to happened. At least not to be recognized by us, the developed world. What kind of message this will send to others throughout the world knowing what kind of independent state this is. This is THE first official terrorist state in the world that gained its independence trough open terrorist aggression. Don’t forget (Albanian people also) that some 50 years ago you were welcomed to enter than SFRJ as a refuge from totalitarian regime of Enver Hodza. You were given all the rights of this world, schools, language, TV, Newspapers… etc. that even now some of the developed countries do not give to their autonomous regions. That was not enough, because the great Albania is the final wish of those same terrorists who were murdering police officers and setting bombs throughout the region for last 30 years. Macidonia and Greece get ready, because you are next! At he same time Kosovo is not only a terrorist nest but it is a region where crossroad of Narco Trafficking and Arms dealing connects North and South and East and West and is being a main source of income for locals and their backers in Washington. I am already sick to the stomach of USA and their foreign politics which is up for a better bidder, as they are the main reason that all of this happened to Serbia. I could go on on this subject but just wanted to comment one more thing. Serbia, the evil state of the 90’s has on their balance over 2,000,000 dead souls scattered throughout the region. This brave soldiers were first to rise against Turks, Austro-Hungarians, Nazis, and were the ones that sent their soldiers to fight revolutions throughout the world, nearest to me known is Spanish Revolution where thousands os Serbs left their bones on Spanish soil, fighting against Franko. So, there were not USTASA from Croatia that liberated Croatia, Not BALIJE from Albania that liberated Kosovo, not PETOKOLONASI in Slovenia that liberated Slovenia, but Evil Serbs, fighting for others. Gentlemen, this is History 101 and I am sad to realize that i will be a part of new history where everithing has a price including a 1000 year old History that is erased in the past 20 years, EU and USA together (NATO) is real EVIL and I wish you all the worst!

  6. Luc on February 17th, 2008 9:22 am

This decision is big mistake in European politics. Does anybody think about result of this act? Serbs became a minority a Albanians will start revenge. Why international military units still remain? Do you think, that Kosovo is really safe place?

  7. Anne on February 17th, 2008 9:40 am

What America would do if Florida, New Mexico and ect would ask independence because Spanish people are majority there. In Miami for example first language is spanish? Would America accept that?

On the other way let’s see what will happen after this precedan when other provinces all over the world will start to do the same?
The Pandoras box is indeed now opened!!!!

  8. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 9:55 am

    Dear Anne,

USA didn’t try to ethnicaly clean Florida,n but USA gave food and shelter to the Spanish speaking people, USA didn’t kill them. The Serbs(Russian hand in Europe) killed hundred of thousand of peoples in EX-Yugoslavia, that is the reason why God punished the serbs.

Thanks Jesus for this holy day,
Thanks USA and all that fight for peace

  9. Anne on February 17th, 2008 10:18 am

New chapter in the world history is not finished yet. I don’t think at all that Serbs are punished. This will only open eyes more and more to the whole world.

Let me just remind you Ilir, that Serbs were paying from each pocket money to Kosovo developments, for social care and aid of Albanian populations who emigrated in Serbia always. They helped Kosovo all the time. Albanians never wanted to work, it was easier to take money for free.
All world will realise what mistake they made by letting growth of greater Albania.

Looking forward to the day of the truth.
Hope Seerbia will get their fight and the most probably without Kosovo their entrance to EU is opened. Albania and Kosovo will remain countries full of criminals.

  10. Dan on February 17th, 2008 10:21 am

Ilir, Bush is no God. Bush punished the Serbs. And some stupid Europeans followed him despite of the turmoil that will follow. Germany and the whole Northern Europe don’t give a s**t on the rest of the Europe. Perhaps they even wish to see it trashed in ethnic conflicts, so they should not support it anymore economically.
What Kosovo would do with its independance it’s a different question. I suppose they will do nothing. They cannot resist on their own. So they will “have to” join Albania. What a surprise!

  11. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 10:32 am

Anne you are writting lies, and be careful God doesn’t like poeple that lie. Serbia never helped Kosova, only stole from Kosovo, i’m borned and raised in this land and know better than you. Dont try to protect serbs, if thay were good as you say why Slovenians,Croats,Macedonians,Montenegro didn’t want to live with serbs. Why the Hungars that live in North Serbia are not agains Kosovas independence?

  12. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 10:35 am

    Dear Dan,

ofcourse Bush is not God, only Jesus is the true God, and i thanks to Jesus that saved my people from sufferings and killings. And i thank to all brave american soldiers and prey for them everyday.

    God bless USA

  14. milan on February 17th, 2008 12:20 pm

    “Dear” Ilir,
The only worse thing then to be American enemy is to be American friend.Mark my word.I don’t think Kosovo will ever be truly independent, nor part of Serbia, but I’m convinced that people of Kosovo
wont get better life that has been promissed to them.I have never seen a country were USA brought a better life.

  15. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 12:27 pm

    Milan,

USA is not the Satan. I know thats what your liders are telling to you. I belive in the american people and i know USA brought a better life for Kosova, and i thank americans for all the good things they do.

    God bless USA

  16. The innocent victim on February 17th, 2008 1:11 pm

    Hey everybody,

I think, in plin words it’s just stupid, or STUPID. Pandora’s box is open. The terrorism dangers was not enough - now all over the world we are going to witness Ethnic wars. Well done to all major actor who enabled it!

  17. John Sinno on February 17th, 2008 1:13 pm

Yes they brought better life for you in means :

    - OFFICIALY by KFOR you still have 500.000 weapons. For hunting deers?
    - Serbs are still getting kidnaped and killed
    - The churches are still burning
    - You live in Serbian houses and flats
    - You live on Sebian soil
    - All the drugs from middle east end up here and eventualy in the EU
    - People trafficing is “blooming”

AND WHAT HAVE THEY DONE ABOUT THIS. IS THIS YOUR VISION OF A BETTER LIFE??? DOING NOTHING AND LIVE FREELY OF CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES?

The americans had their goal - BONDSTIL and it is apparently they were doing nothing to stop the killing of Serbs and killing EU children with drugs that come from albanians in Kosovo. They like it like that because they don’t want a strong EU.

I ask all EU residents, what good do you know of albanians? London, Italy, Greece, Germany, Slovenia anyone???

  18. Anne on February 17th, 2008 1:20 pm

    Ilir,
If you genuinely feel that you are independant under the say so of the US and supervision of the EU then I have to wonder what you are celebrating. Kosovo has been instructed to protect its minorities as does every current member of the EU, even those hoping to join the EU. You will remember that Tadic won the recent presidential election in Serbia, pledging to take Serbia towards eventual EU membership - thus recognising the obligation to protect the minorities within it. The US and EU has backed Kosovo to do the exact same thing whilst Serbia already recognises this as part of its own obligations as it wishes to join the EU. Don’t you see the contradiction? In short, given the aspirations of the Serbian government under Tadic, it already recognises the need to protect minorities (such as the Kosovar Albanian population) so independance is not necessary. How many generations of Serbs have to pay for the behaviour of Milosevic? Remember it was the Serbs who sent him to the International Court in The Hague to face justice - no one forced Serbia to do that, but they did it anyway because, believe it or not, ordinary Serbs are interested in justice too.

Whilst Kosovar Albanians believe they are a special case, I put it to you that you’re not. Many other separatist movements exist throughout the world, so as Spaniard says above this sets a very bad example to others around the world, moreover that terrorism pays!!!!

  19. Dean on February 17th, 2008 1:25 pm

IRA, ETA… Nice job USA and EU.

  20. Charlie on February 17th, 2008 1:33 pm

That is in fact an excellent question: Did anybody ever hear anything good about Albanians?
If EU likes them so much, why nobody didn’t want to keep them as refrugies all over the Europe?

Normal American people don’t give a s*** about Kosovo, they even don’t know anything about it. Bush wants Kosovo for the similar reasons he wanted Iraq, and of course US doesn’t want stable EU. All other EU contries are in general against Kosovo, but they need to follow the EU trend as they are supposed to be united.

If Bush really cared about minorities, than why does he not support a separate state for the Kurds in Turkey?

  21. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 1:50 pm

Well you people can talk against USA as much as you want, i will still pray to Jesus for America, becouse they stoped the serbian barbaric killings of innocent peoples, maybe this action should had be taken in Croatia too, when many Catholics were also massacred, but the Lord knows better.

    God bless USA

  22. Dean on February 17th, 2008 1:53 pm

The main goal for the US was their presence on this teritory. Making a base camp for US soldiers in this part of the world. All the rest is collateral…

What about Serbs that lived in Krajina? They had nothing against croats killing them and sending them to Serbia when they wanted independence. What about Republika Srpska? They can freely declare themselves independent now? Kurds? Chechens? Scots? Irish? Avkazia? Little part of Greece for albanians? Why not now it’s legal and free to declare someones land as yours. Eveyone, what are you waiting for you see that everything is possible, go declare yourselves independent. USA and the EU will give you candies and chocolate for it. IT’S FREE TO TAKE OTHER TERITORIES ACCORDING TO THIS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY.

BTW, did anyone see any Kosovo flags in Pristina today??? They were all albanian flags and in the real world this is called occupation not independence.Half of the Kososvo’s population at the moment are albanians from albania that occupied Serbian land and homes. Look at your birth certificates and remember where you were born because I surrely won’t forget my house in KOSOVO and the graves of my ancestors that are flatened! SHAME ON YOU USA AND EU.

  23. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 2:06 pm

Dean you say serbs in Croatia had nothing against Croats? Than why you killed innocent Catholics in Croatia, why you raped womens? Becouse you loved them thats why you killed and raped?

    God bless USA and EU

  24. Vuk on February 17th, 2008 2:07 pm

    Ilir,

Perhaps you can take some time out of your busy prayer schedule and remember the Serbs who were killed, burned out of their homes and ritually intimidated by your people while the rest of Europe looked the other way? Surely you can spare a moment or two for them?

What flag will you be waving by the way? Alabanian or the traditional Kosovo flag - SERBIAN!?

  25. Bahadir on February 17th, 2008 2:09 pm

What about Norhern Cyprus, they have been practically independent for the last 40 years, but Europe keep ignoring it. The time has come to recognize Northern Cyprus as well

  26. Ilir on February 17th, 2008 2:14 pm

Vuk i pray for all innocent people no matter they religion, the problem is that you dont do the same, instead you killed from Slovenia to Kosova. Serbian flag is for Serbia, we have our own flag in Kosova. In the near future we will have another flag, the flag of EU

    God bless USA and EU

Dispossession of bilions that are property of Serbs

    - private property of outcasted 300.000 Serbian families
    - the property of the Serbian state -land, forests, agricultural land, bussines objects, flats…
    - military property, base camps, barracs, Slatina airport…
    - companies from Serbia own 1358 objects througout Kosovo, only Serbias electrodistribution 4,2 bilion dollars…
    - estimated tektites worth on Kosovo 19 bilion dollars…
    - silver, iron, cobalt, nickel, bauxite… - you name it it’s all there
    - from 1960-1990 Serbia invested 19 bilion dollars in Kosovo
    - the taxes weren’t collected from Kosovo companies by Serbian government ever in order to help the growth of productivity in the region and helping the population

Seems everything clear… GRAND THEFT KOSOVO!

  33. Ilir on February 18th, 2008 7:20 am

    Dean,

serbs started the war in Croatia with barbaric killings of inocent catholics. You have posted 3 links, a can post 300 links what your people did to croatians. Ask forgiveness for everything you did to Catholics in Croatia, thats the best thing you and other serbs can do.

    God bless USA

  34. Ilir on February 18th, 2008 7:23 am

    Nikolas,

you have mentioned silver, iron, cobalt, nickel, bauxite.. that is what serbs stole for years from Kosova. From today all that will belong only to the people in Kosova.

    God bless USA & EU

You just reveiled how stupid you are. I don’t want to teach you history, an albanian that thinks he is ilir is hopeless.

You are still eating by your hands dumb ass! 100 years ago you didn’t even exist as a nation.

  36. Ilir on February 18th, 2008 9:03 am

    Nikolas,

you are the face of your nation, let the world see what kind of language you use. My name is Ilir, what has this with history to do? Do you claim that Nikolas is serbian name?

100 years ago?? hehee…let Jesus forgive you, becouse you doont know what u writte

    God bless USA

  37. Vuk on February 18th, 2008 10:16 am

Ilir in deed with your comments you just showed how you don’t read enough about past. First of all do you know how war in Croatia started???
US helped Croatia to atack Serbs in Lika and Krajina wich are regions in Croatia with Serbian majority. War in Croatia was ethnical cleaning of Serbians from Croatia. Do you remember of 200 000 refrugies that escaped to Serbia in 90’s?

never the less the truth will come out soon or later. Read again message above that Nikolas wrote at 7.15 pm.

and don’t forget look at what is happening to Iraq and the same will happen to Kosovo. America doesn’t like Albanians they just like what they can use from them!!! It was always like that…..

  38. Sofia on February 18th, 2008 12:04 pm

This is an excellent reminder to what happened to Serbs in Croatia and how they were cleaned from there. Now they are repeating something similar on Kosovo.
how many bases they still want to have in EU?

  39. Nikolas on February 18th, 2008 1:06 pm

Sadly, the rules are not the same for everyone. When 200.000 Serbs were killed and thrown out of Croatia no one cared about them.We remember! As someone said above - STOLEN=CURSED. After 50 years of killing in Kosovo you are now talking about multietchical society. Yes thank you alot, now that all the Serbs are dead and outcasted you speak of multiethnical society. With 90% of Albanians…

  40. Nikolas on February 18th, 2008 1:29 pm

Ilir, as for Croatia, I was born there and outcasted from there because I was a Serb. When I came to Serbia I had Croats as my first neighbours. Where do you think my neighbours live now? Well still next door to me because I don’t see people by their nationality and religion but by who they are and what they are like. A very few Croats were outcasted from Serbia during the war in Croatia. There are many Croats living in Serbia at the moment. That’s the main difference, in former Yugoslavia everyone hated us because we were the majority of the population. Out of 20 milion people in 6 countries there was 10 milion Serbs. Now you have an almost ethnicicly clean Croatia and Kosovo without the Serbs, that was the goal…

  41. Sofia on February 19th, 2008 2:21 pm

Nicolas briliant answer! Thanks for reminding to tell the world that part of the truth. because why nobody didn’t ever ask themself, why never in Serbia were war as in other ex Yu republics???? Never, ever, all wars started in other republics because they all wanted to get rid of Serbs and to have for the first time in their history their own countries because they never ever had it.
Serbia never get rid of other nationality that live nowdays in Serbia. Serbia accepted all those Serbs who came from other ex Yu republics, gave them homes and all help! and still was supporting development of Kosovo and Albanians that never wanted to work, came to Serbia from Albania and they all have 5-10 members of the family and most of them on social care.

  42. Tomas on February 21st, 2008 2:22 pm

Thanks to all of you Serbs that luckily for us Albanians and unfortunately for you DO NOT KNOW YOUR OWN HISTORY. Everyone remembers the Serbian and Croat Kingdom of KaraGeorgevitch (George the Great) where Croatians and Serbs had the same civil and political rights. It’s not a coincidence that your official language is know world wide as Serbian-Croatian because of the strong ties in both peoples. In the light of the above (which is truly a fraction of why the Serbs were spread over Tito’s Yugoslavia), there were no ethnic cleansing in part of Croatians, Slovenians, Bosnians or Albanians against the Serbs. There was simply redemption of territories and rights denied by Milosevic army and dictatorship due to his ambition of Greater Serbia. In 1990 Stephan Mesic - current Croat President - then President of Socialist Federation of Yugoslavia was denied another term by the Serbian Parliament because that position “belonged” to Serbs as majority of Yugoslav population. When Milosevic was afraid that no one would accept him as the new Yugoslav President he engaged Serbian army in an unprecedented campaign of suppression, violence, ethnic displacement and cleansing and attacked Slovenia first, then Croatia followed by Bosnia. Kosovo was already ruled by Serbs as it was the only province without the status of the Republic, therefore Albanians never had the chance to hold office in the rotational Presidency of post Tito’s Yugoslavia.

It is a non debatable fact supported by historical documents and resources in archives of London, Paris, Washington, Rome and Vatican among others that in 1913, the Kosovo province was given as a compensation to cessation of violence following the end of the First Balkan War by Great Powers Great Britain, France, Germany and Russia in London in the Peace Conference. Kosovo has never been an autochthon indigenous land inhabited by the Slavic tribes. In contrary, the Slavic tribes migrated to the Balkans during the sixth century AD and occupied the Western Adriatic coast on the West, up to Danube and Sava rivers in the North and extending territories up to present Transylvania (Romania) in the East. What was the Kosovo territory was inhabited in the classical roman period from 300 BC to the disintegration of Western Roman Empire in 476 AD by Dardanian Illyrian Tribes then later emerged as Albanians. The migration of Slavic peoples settling in Danube and Sava rivers in the V -VI centuries AD (which was fully completed by the IX century AD) is a very undisputable historical fact that can be found in any encyclopedia including the very own Serbian.

The other thing about Kosovar Albanians as well as Albanians living in Albania is that they are not originally Muslim of Religion, they are Christians divided into Catholic Christians and Orthodox Christians. After the fall of Kruja citadel (the capital of Skanderbeg state) in 1489, the country fell into Ottoman Empire until proclaimed independence in 1912, thus experiencing one of the longest occupations in the history of modern world. Islam was imposed to Christian Albanian by means of force, violence, torture, starvation, punishment, drafting of boys in the ottoman army at a very young age as early as 5 or 6 yrs old and higher taxes imposed to Christians a remedy to their faith in comparison to Muslims. It is the same fate that turned large portion of Macedonians into Muslims and also a lot of Croatians, Slovenians and Bosnians into the Islam religion.

For the lack of time at this hour, I just want to enlighten the shadows of Serbian propaganda that ” we Albanians are a minority in Kosovo” or “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia”. No, no dear Serbian friends, it is not true. Kosovo has been and it will be an Albanian territory and claims that Serbian ethnic cleansing by Albanians are not grounded on material facts. Just to give you a fact that when NATO forces bombed the “Yugo” ammunition and tanks factory in Serbia in 21 March 1999, Serbians in Kosovo were already in buses fleeing the country and not forced to go because of Albanians actions. Anyway, I hope that all Serbs and Albanians not only develop a non hostile and non hatred relationship but also leave in peace, foster prosperity of their nations in effort to join the EU so that everyone could leave in peace and security.

  43. Nikolas on February 22nd, 2008 1:46 am

How do you explain 1389??? Did you build all those Serbian orthodox churches and monasteries all over Kosovo? You talk about bosnians turning into islam? Who are bosnians? Do you even know what that term means? How do you explain 7% of albanians in Kosovo before 100 years???
Can you ask the albanians in Kosovo where they are born and except that 70% were born in Albania? Remember the Serbs that you killed during WW, remember what happened when they charged back to their motherland? Think of that i keep it as a reminder. The Serbian STATE and the Serbian INDEPENDENT CHURCH was established in Kosovo and we remained orthodox all these years. What are you talking about yourselves? You are a little orthodox, little catholic, little muslims - as the wind blows. You don’t even know your faith! You have no honor!

  44. Nikolas on February 22nd, 2008 12:53 pm

Kosovo is curently the most paradoxical state in the world. In that state live albanian people that cutoff from Serbia and the name of the state has its origin in Serbian word for a bird (turdus merula).By faith they are not christian but still they are surrounded with orthodox monasteries and churches. They are not apprehensive of the curse this kind of legacy can bring. They have patrons in countries that are 10.000 miles away that know nothing about them despite their writers and poets were most recent published and translated in Belgrade. They gained a state that is and isn’t independent, because it will be oversean as long as US military base Bondsteel by the town of Gnjilane exists. On the west they are well known for people and drug trafficing while the finest pages of them were writen by Serbian writers and ethnologists from Miljanov to Cvijic. I wouldn’t like to be in position of members of this community. It is is fine and honourable to be a Serb in this moment. HISTORY IS A MARATHON THAT IS RUN BY CENTURIES.
