Kenya’s Odinga calls for protest rally on January 3
Posted on December 31, 2007 - Filed Under Elections, Kenya |
Defeated Kenyan presidential candidate Raila Odinga called on Monday for a mass rally in Nairobi’s main park this week to protest a disputed vote. “We are going to call for a meeting at Uhuru park on January 3 where we expect a million Kenyans to attend,” Odinga told a news conference. His camp had previously called on Kenyans to gather on Monday, but police banned the meeting.
The situation in Kenya continues to deteriorate in the wake of the contested presidential election.
