Hezbollah Commander Killed; Group Blames Israel

Hezbollah TV announced the death of Imad Mughniyeh, a senior Hezbollah commander implicated in some of the most high-profile international terrorist attacks of the last 25 years. According to reports he died in an explosion in Syria.
Mughniyeh was involved in such terrorist activities the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, which killed 63 people, as well as the truck bombing that year of the U.S. Marine barracks there, an attack that killed 241 people.
The FBI listed Mughniyeh as one of its “Most Wanted Terrorists.” The FBI claims Mughniyeh had a large role in the June 14, 1985, hijacking of TWA 847, a terrorist episode that captivated television viewers in the United States and around the world for more than two weeks. The US had placed a $25 million bounty on Mughniyeh for his role in such terrorist activities.
Hezbollah was quick to blame Israel for the death of Mughniyeh. “With all due pride, we declare a great jihadist leader of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon joining the martyrs… The brother commander hajj Imad Mughniyeh became a martyr at the hands of the Zionist Israelis,†said a statement carried by Hezbollah’s Al Manar television channel.
While it is rare that Israel responds to any questions or allegations about is covert actions, it did respond strongly today.
“Israel rejects the attempts of terror elements to attribute to Israel any involvement in this incident,” Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office said in a statement.
Update: The US is saying that Hezbollah or Syria is responsible for his death.

Good! I hope the Israelis keep chasing them down and sending them to Hell.
May God rest his soul in peace and shower his mercy on Imad mghniyah. amen.
if israel bombs the houses of innocent palestinians and kills their little innocent children that’s called strike against terrorist and when they respond to such atrocities that becomes terrorism how come.
i can not understand the western world’s theory of democracy. they want the whole world go by their rules, standards and defination of democracy, terrorism, peace and all the rest of it. and if someboyd rejects their opinions and comes up with his own method of living his life he straighaway becomes an unacceptable being. the western world is just thrusting their democracy on the entire world and america being at the top of such brutal imposition. u guys call the bombings of US marin’s barack a terrorist act it was indeed a holy fight to kick them out of their country. if some outsiders come and occupy ur land what would you guys think of them. mercy in disguise or you’ll start protest and struggle of any sort that can push them out. this is what hezbullah has done since its establishment. and what do you think of israel? go into the history of zionist state. we do condemn what happened to jewish people during hitler’s brutal reign but that does not justify its occupation of palestinian land and subsequent oppression. and is it really, let me know you guys opinion, just to have had jews placed on the land of palesinians. this is america’s unjust acts and israel that caused the fundamentalism and terrorism to develop because these are the effect the cause of all these lies with america. having said that i’m not supporting terrorism but one must figure out the causes.
A few things for your ignorant posts. If palestinians want their own homeland so badly as you claim, why have they rejected proposals for their own homeland three times? Most recently in 2000, where they were offered everything that they claimed to want by Ehud Barak. Even king abdullah of Saudi Arabia told Erafat that this was the best deal he could possibly get and it would be a “crime” if he rejected it. Stop with your lies and brainwashing. All the palestinian people will settle for is the end of a jewish state completely, it is not their own land that they seek.
dear jon i think u didn’t read my post quite thoroughly and also u look quite ignorant of the history of palestinian conflict. the palestinian land has never been the jewish land they were all settled down in palestine through a plot, designed by britisher after the holocaust. jews were thrusted into palestine and palestinians and no proposals such as the one u mentioned should be acceptable for the palestinians where they have to unjustly compromise on their land and have to give away a great deal of their land to jews.no way!
and as for the saudi king or for that matter any arab leader who are supporting such deals they are all american agents, promoting american policy in the region. i’m so angry at american double standards on one hand they claim to be the biggest supporter of democracy and human rights and on the other they are also backing an undemocratic govt of saudi kings. where they have been inheriting reign from their fathers and are supposed to pass it down to their sons. come on jon don’t be so prejudiced and ignorant. take off ur shaded glasses and see the problem with ur naked eyes.
