Death Toll Climbs to 69 from Baghdad Attacks

The death toll to the bombing attacks in Baghdad’s commercial center has climbed to 69. This makes it the most violent attack in Baghdad since last June.
Calling the act a, “heinous crime,” Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has vowed to capture those responsible. Unlike other blasts, this was not done by a suicide bomber.
“This crime reveals the inherent hatred of the terrorists against the Iraqi people, and their despair to carry out their evil plans after they received repeated defeats at the hands of the sons of our armed forces,” al-Maliki said.
The Karrada district, known for its commercial shops, had been relatively peaceful of late. But this latest attack demonstrates that Baghdad is still not secure and free of terrorists.
