Bush Sets Sights on Peace Treaty Before Term Expires
Posted on January 10, 2008 - Filed Under Bush, Israel |
After 7 years in office President Bush has arrived in Israel. After disengaging the US from the region for most of his two terms, Bush now seeks a Peace treaty to be signed by the Palestinians and Israelis before his term ends.  Â
Better late than never.
If Bush can broker a deal between the two sides it would leave him with an important legacy in the region — something his administration can use as it begins to think about the history books will recall this Presidency. Â

Why does every president try to make peace in the middle east his last year in office? If Clinton couldn’t do it, what makes Bush think he can? Look! Look! Forget about Iraq — I’m making peace here in the Middle East!
Politicia: Liberals its time to wake up. President Bush is trying to do something positive in the middle east and this is how you respond? Would it be better if he does nothing? And if he did do nothing you would attack him for that. So either way he can’t win.
No, Salome. I just wish he did not wait until the 11th hour to try. The “it’s better than nothing” excuse disregards the 7 years bush didn’t even toe-touch in israel.
